Cantine Monfort is a traditional, family-run winery from Trentino (North East Italy) founded in 1945 by Giovanni Simoni. It has a history of four generations with Lorenzo Simoni being the present owner. The winery is located in the Palazzo Monfort, former residence of a noble family, in the historical center of Lavis, a pleasant town north of Trento.
The wines are the result of dedicated work characterized by great passion and love which have been their trademarks for a very long time. These wines, crafted from purposely selected grapes, express great personality, elegance and a distinct nose. They are the result of the deep connection with their land: Trentino. All the wines are produced with local vines cultivated according to an integrated production system respecting the natural and biological balance of the terrain. A project of quality and improvement of their vines is continuous and ongoing, with the purpose of obtaining elegant and structured wines paying attention to the production of wines unique to the region through rigorous quality inspections involved in all the production phases – from the vineyard to the bottle.
The first bottle of cuvée sparkling wine was made in 1985 as an experiment that soon became a lasting commitment. Throughout the years, their continuing research into the best grapes for their base wine has allowed this winery to constantly improve its quality. Cantine Monfort dedicates itself passionately to producing Trento DOC sparkling wines, in Brut, Rosé and Riserva varieties.
Jackson Nugent Vintners have worked extensively in the Duty Free Markets with the Simoni family and are now looking to develop these beautiful wines in the domestic UK markets, starting with the exquisite Pinot Grigio, but looking to develop the wines as their markets evolve.
